Focused on improving posture and alignment, Pilates and strength training can go hand in had. Pilates is a superb way to increase muscle strength and it can accelerate your progress and optimise performance when combined with a dedicated strength training regime. If you want to explore the benefits of Pilates and strength training, read on to find out more.
Benefits of Combining Pilates and Strength Training
Muscular balance, core strength and optimal alignment are the mainstays of Pilates – all of which are necessary for safe and effective strength training! When you improve muscle balance and alignment, you can ensure that you’re using the right muscles when you train. Not only does this allow you to build strength in any area of the body, but it also reduces the risk of injury and offers:
- Comprehensive muscle development
- Improved posture and alignment
- Enhanced functional fitness
Furthermore, combining Pilates and strength training allows you to vary the range of exercises you’re undertaking. This not only adds variety to your exercise regime, but it also means that you’re activating different muscle groups and building strength in different areas, rather than focusing solely on one muscle group.
Additionally, integrating Pilates and strength training will keep your fitness routine feeling fresh and give you new challenges and goals to strive for. With this comes added motivation and focus, which means you’re more likely to stay on track and achieve your objectives.

Pilates Classes at Goji London: What to Expect
Upon arrival at Goji, you’ll be welcomed by your instructor and fellow members. It’s best to arrive approximately 10 – 15 minutes before the start of your session, so that you can store personal items in a cubby, collect any equipment you need, introduce yourself and get ready for practice. Please feel free to let your instructor know if you have any concerns or require accommodations or contact them in advance.
When it’s time for your session to start, you’ll be invited to begin the practice alongside the rest of your class and advised how to adjust any movements to match your abilities. In some sessions, an instructor may offer respectful, hands-on adjustments to help you improve your practice and posture. Of course, they will always ask if anyone would prefer not to have hands-on adjustment and, if so, they will guide you via verbal instruction and coaching.
At the end of the session, you’ll be asked to wipe down your mat and any other equipment you have used before collecting your belongings from the cubby area. This is when many members like to chat and enjoy informal discussions about their practice and progress. We encourage community support at Goji, so it’s a great opportunity to get to know your fellow members!
